Internet Policy

The Salem State College Library provides internet access to all of its users. The internet is a global electronic network which supplements the library's collection and enables it to fulfill its vision of serving "as a gateway to global knowledge". Access to the internet's vast array of information sources, many of which are otherwise unavailable, is a vital component of the research process.

Student Papers

While Salem State College Library is sympathetic to instructor's needs, due to security and confidentiality concerns, no department of the library may serve as a collection point or pick-up point for student homework. An exception to this policy is when a librarian is the instructor of a class.

Unattended Children

  • Children are welcome in the library when accompanied by an adult. However, we are concerned about their safety and welfare. Parents or caregivers are responsible for monitoring the activities and regulating the behavior of their children while the children are in the library.
  • Chidren unattended by an adult may be asked to leave the library; Salem State College Police may be notified. By unattended is meant not having a responsible adult in the immediate proximity. Children accompanying an adult are the responsibility of that adult and are expected to refrain or be restrained from actions or noise which might be disturbing to library users.
  • High school and junior high students working on school assignments or other research may use the library unaccompanied providing they do so in an orderly manner.
