Electronic Databases for Education & Related Disciplines

To access the databases remotely, go to the databases page. Select databases by title, provider (QuickLinks) or by subject. Education databases are in the Social Sciences area. Enter your Salem State College email account and password at the prompt.

Education Research Complete (EBSCO)

Covers early childhood to higher education, numerous specialties, and areas of curriculum instruction as well as administration, policy, funding, and related social issues. Provides indexing and abstracts for 1,500+ journals. Full-text for 750 journals, for education-related conferences, and for 100+ books and monographs. Note: includes Education Abstracts. Monthly updates. To find full-text of book chapters and other documents, select reference books as the publication type.

Educators Reference Complete (Gale)

1980-present with daily updates. 450+ full-text academic journals, reports, and reference sources. Content focuses on educational principles, best practices, and child development and psychology. Most full-text titles in this database are also in ERIC.

ERIC (EBSCO)

Coverage: 1966-present. Contains full-text ERIC documents for the past five years, Digests; Information from the Resources in Education and the monthly Current Index to Journals in Education, and ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center. Full-text; monthly updates.

Kraus Curriculum Development Library Online

Coverage: current (3 years). Includes curricula/frameworks/standards; 2,500+ full-text documents; contact information for agencies. Choose search terms carefully and try more than one approach if you don’t get results at first. For example, use MCAS alternate rather than the words MCAS alternative.

JSTOR

Multi-disciplinary, retrospective, full-text journals, including education titles. More than one subject may be searched simultaneously. Most useful for historical research.

Mental Measurements (EBSCO)

Current; full-text. Contains reviews of educational and psychological tests.

Professional Development Collection (EBSCO)

Current; 240+ full-text journals, designed for professional educators.

PsycInfo (EBSCO)

APA's highly regarded database of professional journals. Coverage: current.

Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection (EBSCO)

1965- . Full-text; daily updates.

SocINDEX with Full Text (EBSCO)

Covers all sub-divisions of Sociology. Full-text of 242 core journals back to 1895 and 72 priority journals, 547 books, 6,700+ conference papers. As of January 2006, includes Sociological Abstracts and Criminal Justice Abstracts.

Dissertation Abstracts

The FirstSearch edition indexes doctoral theses from 1895 to present and masters theses from 1988 on. The Proquest edition covers the latest two years and permits previews.
