Tutorial
Program.
The
tutorial program is free to all full-time and part-time students attending
Salem State College. Assistance is available in all courses depending on
the number of qualified tutors and the availability of funds. The objectives
of the Tutorial Program are to increase a student's academic success by
providing her / him with a qualified tutor and to help students become
independent, self-confident and more efficient learners.
Entering
Student Testing.
Testing
occurs during Orientation and at periodic times during the academic year.
These tests are used to determine students skills developed needs in reading,
writing, math and computer literacy. Testing also occurs throughout the
year on an individual basis to satisfy competency-based skills requirements.
Educational
Opportunity Program.
The
Educational Opportunity Program offers academic support services to students
who do not meet the eligibility requirements of the Learning Center Programs
but have the commitment and motivation to succeed. Based on the student's
needs, an individualized support plan is devised. The student has the opportunity
to participate in all Learning Center supports and activities. Five students
per year are considered for this Program.
