Contact information is at the bottom of the email ABOUT CDS INTERNATIONAL: CDS International, now in its 35th successful year, is a nonprofit organization dedicated to developing and enhancing opportunities for Americans to participate in meaningful, practical training opportunities abroad. CDS offers students, recent graduates and young professionals visa sponsorship and internship placement services, as well as study tours and seminars, in a variety of business, engineering and other technical fields in Germany, Argentina, Ecuador and Switzerland. Most internships are paid and last 3-18 months. While all programs contain an internship component, some have academic or language training elements as well. Program Description: EMGIP -- German State Parliaments provides internship opportunities for U.S. and Canadian students to complete one- to three-month internships with German state parliaments and ministries from September through December 2004. This program also provides an opportunity to gain practical work experience, improve German language skills, and experience German culture firsthand. Students should major in fields such as international relations, public administration, political studies, law, or German (with a minor in any of these fields), and must be able to fully communicate in German. The program will start with a two-day orientation seminar and stipends will be provided to help offset living expenses during the internship. The application deadline for this program is March 31 for the following year. Program Duration: One to three months. Eligibility Requirements: Candidates must be U.S. or Canadian citizens. International citizens may apply if they are enrolled students at a U.S. college/university. All candidates must be either undergraduate or graduate students and be enrolled full-time before, during and after the program. The maximum age is 30, and participants must have at least intermediate German skills (oral and written). Candidates must be able and willing to communicate in German and possess a good command of professional vocabulary in their field. Language skills will also be tested during the interview. Participants must have completed at least 2 years of study at a university/college in a field related to: International Relations, Public Administration, Political Studies, Law, European Studies with an emphasis on Germany, German or German Studies, with a minor in one of the above fields. Practical experience does not need to be extensive but is required. It is important that you know how to adjust to a professional environment and how to use your theoretical skills in the workplace (e.g. internship, voluntary work, summer job).
