2/23: Canadian Consul General talk on "Canadian-U.S. Relations"! Monday,
Feb 23, 11am-12pm, Business School smart room 111 in the new Central
Campus building! Sponsored by the School of Business and open to all
interested!

2/26: Summer in Quebec: Informational Meeting! Thurs, Feb 26,
3:30-5:00pm at the Center for International Education (8 Harrison Rd,
South Campus)! Come learn about French language study at the Universite
Laval in Quebec. The program will take place 5 July-6 August and you can
earn up to 6 credits in French towards your language requirement or a
French minor! All levels of language offered
(elementary-intermediate-advanced). Appx cost (tuition, dorm room, fees):
$1,000.

1 fevrier, online: French Trivia Contest! Be the first to answer three
trivia questions posted to the French Club listserve each Monday morning
and win the admiration of the Club members! Ongoing each week throughout
the spring semester.

2 fevrier, 11:00-12:00, Sullivan 207A: French Conversation Hour! Mondays
during Community Time all semester long (except holidays or days when
other French Club events conflict). Bring your own brown-bag lunch or a
cup of coffee & imagine you're in a cafe on the boulevard St.-Michel!
Practice your French in a casual and supportive environment. Students of
all levels of French, any faculty or staff who speak French, and any
native-speakers of French are welcome! (NB: We still need to confirm that
SB207A is open during this time slot, but if there are any changes we'll
let you know!)

10 fevrier, 6:00-8:00pm, Meier 204A (LRC): French Film Series! "La
Buche", a 1999 comedy by Daniele Thompson, explores the complicated
relationships of a fractured French family as they gather to celebrate
Christmas together in Paris. Enjoy fresh, hot crepes made to order by chef
Blood as you watch the film! (Location to be confirmed; any changes will
be announced.)

23 fevrier, 11:00-12:00, Central Campus, room 111: French Club members
are invited to join the School of Business in welcoming the Canadian
Consul General to campus! The Consul General will speak on Canadian/US
relations and answer questions from students. (No French Conversation Hour
today.)
MARS 2004:

French Film Series! "La Haine" (Hate), co-sponsored by the Peace
Institute. This 1996 drama by Mathieu Kassovitz explores urban violence in
Paris through the story of three ethnically diverse friends who chose
different paths in the wake of a violent clash with French police.
Tuesday, March 9, 6pm, in
Vets Hall (Ellison Campus Center). This recent film by Mathieu Kassovitz
will shake your preconceived notions of French culture! This is not the
Paris of baguettes and berets! The film explores the lives of 3 friends
living in Paris, all ethnic minorities, as they confront hate in French
society. It's the "Boyz-in-the-Hood" of French cinema. Co-sponsored by the
Peace Institute and the French Program. Free. Snacks will be served!

Gauguin at the MFA! A day-trip to see the Gaugin exhibit at the Museum
of Fine Arts in Boston, including lunch or dinner at a French restaurant.
Info on dates and cost to be announced in advance.

3/1-29: French Conversation Hour! Mondays in March (Mar 1, 8, 22, 29),
11am-12pm, Sullivan 207A! Bring a brown bag lunch or a cup of coffee (or
just yourself!) and come chat with us in French!

abroad programs in Quebec and France. (Date/location TBA)

Petanque Tournament? Once the weather gets warm, we can enjoy a picnic
at a local park and challenge each other at the game of "boules" (like
Italian bocce)!

Cooking Class? The "Buche de Noel" class was such as success, perhaps we
should think about another French cooking class?
