Institutional Research and Assessment
Institutional Research and Assessment organizes and analyzes institutional and other data to support planning, assessment and decision-making at Salem State College. While reporting to the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the responsibilities of Institutional Research and Assessment are college-wide. Institutional Research and Assessment has the major responsibility for compiling and filing reports required by the Massachusetts Board of Higher Education, the U.S. Department of Education, and other state and federal agencies.
Among the objectives of the office are:
- To meet, on time and with accurate information, the external reporting requirements of the state and federal governments;
- To organize, maintain, and disseminate institutional data for decision-making, program review, and accreditation;
- To analyze and interpret or to assist in the analysis and interpretation of data, as appropriate, providing useful information for planning, assessment and decision-making;
- To develop and disseminate information regarding best practices for measuring and improving student learning;
- To provide information and support to units in their efforts to measure and improve student learning outcomes.
