Hello (Xin Chao) everyone and welcome to Vietmail.

From August 10th till August 25th we posted live e-mails from Vietnam on this page. Read about our 1999 journey which started in Hanoi and culminated in a small rural village near the Mekong River. Catch the e-mail from us at the National Nursing Conference in Hanoi where we begin our trek down south: visiting hospitals in Hanoi, the Mekong and Ho Chi Minh City.

Once in the Mekong S.S.C. nursing, honors student Nu Vo gave a health education on birth control to the inhabitants of her former village. This was her first trip back in seven years and she had the opportunity to visit many relatives and friends that still reside there. Please read all about it in, "Nu Vo's Journal" on this web site.

Also read, "Living in the Mekong" which chronicles our days in Nu's village and our adjustment to their daily living practices. Health care at the village level is also discussed as we conducted several physical assessments and witnessed a birth at a local clinic while living there.
