Newborn Nursery

Nurse cares for newborn.

Stable newborns are positioned supine (flat on the back) on plastic covered mats. Units are crowded and it is not uncommon to have two newborns in one bed.

Cloth diapers are used to swaddle newborns by neatly tieing the ends. The diapers also serve as pillows and booties.

Hospital diapers hung out to dry.
