Dr.
Barbara Poremba
Professor of Public Health Nursing |
"We recently
attended the National Nursing Conference in Hanoi. Nursing, honors
student Nu
Vo joined Dick Walsh and me as the Salem State delegation
to help assess where Vietnam's health care is today and hopefully
determine where it is going in the new millenium.
As per usual, the resulting research materials will be turned
into health care publications and shared with our audience on
this web site. The proceedings at the conference and in Nu Vo's
village were videotaped and added to our latest documentary,
"Life on the Mekong." Read about our experiences at Nu's village in my
new article, "Living
in the Mekong." |

"During the last few years
I have traveled to Vietnam, to shoot video and photography for
the creation of this web site and to help support Dr. Poremba's
research objectives. I have just completed editing two piece's:
"Life on the Mekong." and 'Tobacco in the Third World".
A highlight for me was the opportunity to do field work in Nu
Vo's village, a small village of rice farmers and their families
in the Mekong Delta region. She could barely contain her enthusiasm
when she learned about this expedition. It was the forfillment
of her life's goal to go back and help her people.
While in her village I videotaped her giving a health care education
to relatives and friends; many who she hasn't seen in seven years. |
