Employee of the Quarter Program

Rules and Regulations

The following are steps for the nomination, selection, and recognition of the Salem State College Employee of the Quarter Award recipient:

1. Nomination forms are periodically mailed campus wide.
2. Submitted nominations are checked for eligibility. In order to be eligible, the employee must be benefited, classified (not necessarily AFSCME) with at least 2 years of service.
3. All nominations remain in the pool and are only removed when selected for the Award. Employees may only win once per calendar year (January 1 to Dec 31); they become eligible again the next calendar year if they are nominated again. An overview of all selections is supplied to the Selection Committee each quarter.
4. The Selection Committee is comprised of the previous three Employees of the Quarter.
5. The Committee is supplied with a packet containing nominations of all those employees who are currently eligible. They are given one week to make their selections and return them to Human Resources and Equal Opportunity. The Coordinator tallies the ranking sheets to determine the winner.
6. Upon selection by the Committee, the supervisor of that employee is contacted and asked if they support this choice. The personnel folder is also reviewed for any performance problems, if none exist, then the person is notified of this recognition. If extenuating circumstances exist, the Committee will reconvene to re-review nominations.
7. The Program Coordinator notifies the winner in person. The winner is presented with a congratulatory letter from the President, a $50.00 American Express Gift Cheque, and an explanation of their involvement for the next three quarters. There will be a campus wide email sent acknowledging the employee. The employee is informed that a copy of the letter from the President has been placed in his/her personnel file and one has been sent to their area Vice President.
