Honors Program

Student Resources

A Community Within a Community
The Honors Program is a community within the larger SSC community, with its own meeting space, email (listserv) network, dinners, annual retreat, convocations, outings, etc. From time-to-time, Honors students gather for activities like trips to Cambridge or Salem Willows. Some students even choose to live together in on-campus Honors housing-the Leadership Floors for first-year students and the Scholars-in-Residence program for others. Additionally, Honors students participate in the larger college life, typically playing leadership roles in athletics, government, most groups and clubs, and the arts.

Advising
Beginning at Summer Orientation, in-coming freshmen Honors students meet with the Honors Program Coordinator, Rod Kessler, and Honors students who have already completed at least their freshmen year. Throughout the year, the Honors Program Coordinator encourages students to stop in to visit any time with questions, concerns, or just to chat.

Honors Center
Located in Room 451 of the Enterprise Center on Central Campus, the Honors Center is the perfect spot for students to mingle, study, or relax between classes. Students will find two computers, a printer, couches, and study space for their needs.

Honors in Residence
Honors in Residence Housing is an option for Honors students who wish to live with their peers. Students who opt for Honors Housing have the best of both worlds: close contact with other Honors students, and all the diversity of the larger residence hall. Honors in Residence is available in our new state-of-the-art Residence Village at Central Campus.

HPAC The Honors Program Advisory Council -HPAC-is a mechanism for implementing change and making things happen, providing an opportunity for students to plan activities for fellow Honors students.

Honors Program Listserv
All members of the Honors Program belong to a common listserv, making it easy to communicate by email about a range of information from campus activities to advising notices. Honors Program students can easily arrange book swaps, outings, and group study sessions. The listserv makes it easy for students to help and support one another in countless ways.
