Shakespeare Project at Salem State College
Weekend Teacher Institute March 28-30, 2008
Breathe life into your teaching! Actors' Shakespeare Project's (ASP) vibrant approach to Shakespeare's language will present dynamic and energetic approaches to Shakespeare, provide you with a powerful experience of Tempest, and give you a new set of tools and activities which will help your students explore Shakespeare's enchanting yet unsettling play.
Meeting Dates & Times
We will meet on the following dates and times, both on Salem State College's South Campus and off-site.
1. Friday, March 7, 5:00 – 7:00pm (Alumni House, South Campus)
2. Friday, March 28, 6:00 – 9:00pm (Alumni House, South Campus)
3. Saturday, March 29 will begin at Alumni House at 9:00am and end off-site at the ASP Evening Performance
4. Sunday, March 30, 10:00am – 2:00pm (Alumni House, South Campus)
5. Saturday, April 26, 9:00am - Noon (Alumni House, South Campus)
6. Saturday, May 3 off-site at ASP. This session includes an open rehearsal of King John.
Institute Components
- Participate in workshops including Unpacking the Language of Shakespeare, Explore Shakespeare's Text
- Using Voice and Movement, and Theater Techniques to Get Students On Their Feet.
- Develop a curriculum unit.
- Attend ASP's performance of Tempest Saturday, March 29 at 7:30. Ticket included in cost of workshop.
- Attend a special session with Ben Evett, ASP's artistic director, who is playing the role of Caliban.
- Come back for a reconvene session at ASP's open rehearsal of King John Saturday, May 3.

Options
1. Graduate Three-Credit Option: Register for ENG758, Studies in Shakespeare, taught by Dr. Jeffrey Theis. Cost is flat fee of $975. All six sessions must be attended.
2. 30 PDP Points: Register for 9ENG758. Cost is flat fee of $525. Sessions 2, 3, 4, and 6 must be attended.

You must register by the first class meeting using one of these methods:
1. Walk-in to the Salem State College Registrar's Office. Hours are Monday -Thursday from 8:30 am - 9 p.m. and Friday from 9:30am - 5pm
2. Phone-in by calling 978-542-6334. Hours are Monday - Thursday, Noon - 8:00pm
3. Mail-in your registration form to the following address:

Regardless of the method you use to register, you MUST specify if you wish to register for Graduate Credit at a flat rate of $975 or for 30 PDP points at a flat rate of $525.
