M.Ed. - Technology in Education
The program, which is accredited by NCATE-AASL, allows students to conclude their degree with two products:
- An M.Ed. upon acceptance of the program portfolio
- Those interested in pursuing licensure may complete a practicum, satisfying the Massachusetts Department of Education requirements
Students can complete the program entirely online through SSC Online. The online program consists of the same rigorous courses as the on-campus program and all courses are taught by the same experienced faculty. The program is limited to 15 students who complete the program as a cohort.
The program includes concepts of planning for change, technological skill development and curriculum development. Technology integration is evaluated and modeled within each course, from professional development planning to assuring curricular access for all students. Courses consist of instructional technologies integrated across all subject areas for those working in specified fields. Field experience is required for licensure.
Sample positions include the following:
Instructional Technology Specialist: an educator collaborating with teachers and administrators enabling the integration of technology to deepen student learning
Teacher: a dynamic educator integrating technology in their instruction as a "working smarter" component to deepen student learning
Administrator: a leader able to plan, evaluate, and expect the integration of technology within the classroom
