M.Ed. - Library Media Studies
"The SSC Library Media program allows for a wide ranging look at issues that affect library teachers today. I was thrilled that what I was learning could immediately be turned around to use with students to positively affect their educational experience. The program focuses on the many diverse aspects of school librarianship: technology, curriculum, literacy and administration. It covers all the bases and prepares library teachers for the reality of a rewarding career in education." Barbara Fecteau '06 M.Ed. LMS, Beverly H.S. Librarian
The Library Media Studies program, which is accredited by NCATE-AASL, provides students with the necessary qualifications to meet Massachusetts requirements for initial library teacher licensure.
Students can complete the program entirely online through SSC Online. The online and on-campus programs are taught by the same faculty, and students receive the same degree. The online program is limited to 15 students who complete the program as a cohort.
Graduates are prepared for the following roles.

Teacher: an effective instructor, and acknowledged expert on research and literacy.
Program Administrator: able to plan, develop, implement, manage and evaluate every aspect of the library program and its positive effect on instruction and learning.
