Now that you have received the confirmation email, you are ready to access your space on our web server (Beacon). The easiest way to access your space is with a FTP program. Salem State College does not provide this software, but there are numerous shareware and freeware FTP programs available online. Regardless of which software you use, you will need the following information:
Host Name: beacon.salemstate.edu (Dept. accounts: trident.salemstate.edu)
Username: Your Username (eg. tjones)
Password: Your Password (you should have just received this in an email)
Initial Remote Directory: public_html (faculty accounts only!)
Attention Faculty Account Holders:
It is important to include public_html as your Initial Remote Directory. All of the files that you want to be visible on the Internet must be in this directory. |
Please Note: Only files that are intended to be viewed on the Web should be uploaded to the server. Do not upload your entire directory if it includes Photoshop (.psd) files or any other large files that are not intended to be part of your website.
