Room Assignments

As a matter of campus safety, all courses must meet in their assigned room. If you are not in your assigned room, we will be unable to contact you or your students in the event of an emergency.

Faculty should not change their room without prior approval. Rooms that may look empty often are scheduled to be in use a later point in the semester. Classrooms are assigned by the registrar’s office and can only be changed via an official request to that office. 


ELearning (Canvas) is the online learning management system of Salem State. Elearning is available for all courses and can be requested via faculty services in Navigator. For specific instructions on requesting an ELearning (Canvas) section, please follow the link above.

Book Orders

Textbooks can be ordered from the Salem State bookstore by completing a textbook the order form supplied by your department, by contacting the textbook manager at  978.542.3808, or via online adoption. Faculty should check with their department chairs regarding departmental policies on textbooks.

Photocopying and Printing

Faculty should check with their departments regarding departmental policies on photocopying for day courses. Photocopying for continuing studies and graduate courses should be done in the continuing studies/graduate studies copy-room (SB112) for smaller jobs, larger jobs should be taken to the copy center.

Syllabus Guidelines and Course Information Policy

Please make sure that you include all of the information outlined in the course information policy when preparing syllabi and course materials.

Instructional Media Center

The Instructional Media Center (IMC) supports faculty, students and staff who wish to use presentation technology to enrich learning in teaching and instructional settings.

Library Resources

The library offers a wide array of research tools and resources.

Census Reporting

Federal financial aid regulations require colleges to identify students who registered for classes during a given semester and to report those who are no longer attending (stopped attending) or never attended.

Census reporting is available as a link from the class roster in Navigator.  Instructions for submitting your census can be found on the registrar’s faculty online services page.

Submitting Grades

Grades must be reported online via Navigator. Information regarding grading, including instructions and dates, can be found on the registrar’s faculty online services page.

Course Evaluations

Course evaluations for continuing studies and graduate courses are administered to students automatically in Navigator at the end of the course.
