Salem State Colleges offers resources to faculty to promote scholarly research and innovative teaching, including:

Research and Writing Initiative (RWI): a program where participants share and respond to each other’s writing. Presentations address topics such as research funding and navigating the publication process.

Bureau of Faculty Research (BFR): assistance in preparation of manuscripts, statistical analysis and editing services. The BFR is located LIB 304.

Center for Teaching Innovation (CTI): assistance to faculty and teaching support staff on the development of strategies and effective techniques in classroom pedagogy, instructional design, instructional technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration. Funding for Professional Development (MSCA Continuing Scholarship Fund): Contractual funding for professional development is administered in compliance with the MSCA/Board of Higher Education collective bargaining agreement.

Summer Grants Program
Every year the Council for Teaching and Learning offers a competition for summer grants for teachers at Salem State College.

The goals of the Teaching and Learning Summer Grants Program are as follows:

To improve teaching effectiveness
To enhance student learning
To encourage innovation in the classroom
The Summer Grant Program provides support to faculty and librarians in developing and testing pedagogical projects aimed at improving teaching and learning during the next academic year.  Applicants are encouraged to develop proposals that will test innovative teaching methods and to develop assessment procedures to measure the outcome of the innovation.
