CTI Mission:
The Center for Teaching Innovation at Salem State College promotes, facilitates and catalyzes effective teaching and learning across the campus. The Center implements the Colleges mission of promoting quality teaching and research by assisting faculty and teaching support staff in the development of strategies and effective techniques in classroom pedagogy, instructional design, instructional technology, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
The Center for Teaching Innovation supports the Salem State College community of learners and its commitment to quality teaching by:
- providing a creative, collaborative and supportive space for faculty to discuss, experiment and develop new methods, strategies and techniques for teaching and learning.
- providing instructional technology, instructional design and pedagogical support for Web-enhanced and online learning.
- providing a centralized campus resource center and satellite activities for teaching including a faculty instructional technology lab, instructional media services, professional instructional technologist support staff and faculty mentors, collaborative faculty work space, available faculty computer training center, electronic and print resources on pedagogy, and private seminar/meeting room.
- soliciting faculty input on teaching needs and goals and providing or directing faculty to available resources and contacts on campus.
- sponsoring programs, seminars, training sessions and/or workshops on effective and innovative teaching by faculty, staff instructional technologists or outside trainers/speakers.
- fostering research into the "scholarship of teaching" and identifying and writing local, state and federal grants to support the Centers work and resources.
