BATES COMPLEX - LIFE SAFETY UPGRADES

Location:         Lower South Campus
Partner:           Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA)
Contractor:      Walsh Brothers Incorporated
Description:     Perform a code compliant replacement of the existing Fire Alarm system. Install a new Fire
                        Protection (sprinkler) system to comply with current building codes. Replace bedroom
                        furniture. Investigate the ongoing water infiltration problems at the entrance foyers. Exterior
                        work will include excavation and backfill of the main fire alarm notification cable, if required.
Schedule:        This work is expected to begin in May 2009 and occur over two summers.

PEABODY AND BOWDITCH HALLS - DOOR AND FIRE PROTECTION UPGRADES

Location:         North Campus
Partner:           Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA)
Contractor:      Walsh Brothers Incorporated
Description:     Replace the ground floor doors in Bowditch Hall. Replace all the interior doors in Peabody
                        Hall. Replace all the existing Fire Protection (sprinkler) heads in Peabody Hall with
                        concealed heads.
Schedule:        This work is expected to occur from mid May through mid August.

CENTRAL CAMPUS RESIDENCE HALL - PHOTOVOTALIC PROJECT

Location:         Central Campus (existing residence hall)
Partner:           Massachusetts State College Building Authority (MSCBA)
Contractor:      TBD
Description:     Installation of photovoltaic panels on the west side of the building on the existing metal roof,
                        with installation of associated electrical equipment. 
Schedule:        This work is tentatively scheduled for late June through the end of August.

LIBRARY COLLECTIONS AND FURNISHINGS RELOCATION

Location:         North Campus Closed Library to Weir Property Blue Building
Partner:           None
Contractor:      Salem State College
Description:     The College must remove all library collections in order for them to be more accessible for
                        staff retrieval and prior to demolition of the closed library. The college must also remove all
                        remaining furnishings from the building prior to demolition. Both the library collections and the
                        furnishings will be stored in the blue building on the Weir Property.
Schedule:        This work is expected to occur during May and June of 2009.
