SALEM, Mass., Oct. 31, 2005 - Salem State College professor Mary Ann McGovern, of Beverly, recently attended a nursing education consortium on graduate nursing programs in Pasadena, CA.

The training session provides education on integrating end-of-life care and resources into graduate nursing programs.

McGovern was one of 22 participants who were competitively selected from graduate school faculties across the United States. The City of Hope (COH) Cancer Center and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN) received a four-year grant from the National Cancer Institute to conduct this training program.

Course content was presented in several participatory formats including lecture, open forum discussion, small group activities, and training sessions. The training program was conducted by researchers, educators, authors, and leaders in the field of palliative care.
