Springer Named Director of School of Social Work
SALEM, MASS. - Cheryl Springer, of Swampscott, has been named director of the School of Social Work at Salem State College.
Springer received her bachelor's degree from the University of Wisconsin at Madison, her master's from the University of Southern California and her doctorate from Smith College in Northampton. Prior to her work at Salem State, she was a member of the faculty at New York University from 1991 to 1998.
"Our goal at Salem State is being able to develop and leverage partnerships between the School of Social Work and agencies and institutions outside of the college," said Springer. "Undergraduate student enrollment is up this year and the graduate program remains solid. More students are enrolling and we are looking forward to hiring new faculty."
The School of Social Work, as part of a comprehensive publicly-supported institution of higher learning, educates undergraduates (BSW) and graduate (MSW) students for generalist and advanced generalist practice. The School is committed to the advancement of knowledge through study, practice, and research in selected areas of social work and social welfare.
