Salem State names Beverly resident Kathleen Brewer Doran dean of business school

SALEM -- Kathleen Brewer Doran, the former founding dean of the School of Business and Information Science at Lasell College in Newton, has been named the dean of the School of Business at Salem State College.
An internationally known researcher, Doran was named "Outstanding Scholar in Chinese Marketing" in 2002. She has held positions in sales, marketing, finance, strategic planning and consulting. As a consultant, she has worked with high-tech firms, aviation organizations, financial companies and resort firms as well as with a variety of organizations concerned with China.
Doran, of Beverly, has appeared regularly in the media as an expert commentator, primarily on consumer and Chinese business issues. She has been featured on National Public Radio and Boston area network affiliates, as well as in newspapers including the Washington Post, the Boston Globe and Mass High Tech magazine. She is a regular contributor on New England Cable News and is listed in the prestigious Marquis "Who's Who in America."
Doran holds a bachelor's degree from Dartmouth College, a master's degree from the Darden School at the University of Virginia and doctorate from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.
At Salem State, she will oversee the business school's three departments: Accounting and Finance, Management, and Marketing & Decision Sciences. The School of Business at Salem State offers Bachelor of Science (BS) degrees in business administration and in fire science administration with concentrations in accounting, aviation science, entrepreneurship, finance, human resource management, international business, management, marketing, and operations management/management information systems. In addition, the school offers a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree as well as a program run jointly with the School of Nursing, granting an MBA/MSN degree.
