SSC Police Officers Officially Sworn in as City of Salem Special Police Officers
Salem, Mass. - In ceremonies held July 25th on the Salem State College campus, members of the College’s police department were officially sworn in as City of Salem special police officers.
The initiative, details of which were worked out during yearlong talks between the city of Salem and Salem State College, is the first such collaboration in the state of Massachusetts. According to Brian Pray, chief of police at the College, and Robert St. Pierre, chief of police for the City of Salem, the Memorandum of Agreement between the two police departments will result not only in greater communication between the two forces, but greater collaboration as well.
Present at the swearing in were Salem Police Chief Robert St. Pierre, Salem Police Captain Paul Tucker and Director Salem State College’s Campus Police Department Brian C. Pray. Twenty-six Salem State College police officers took the oath and were duly sworn in.
