SALEM - Deirdre Sartorelli of Peabody is the recipient of the 2005 George H. Ellison Sr. Volunteer of the Year Award at Salem State College. In memory of Salem State alumnus and longtime contributor George H. Ellison Sr., the award is presented to an individual who has made outstanding contributions to Salem State College.
Ellison's wife Claire and son Robert Ellison of Lynnfield made the presentation to Sartorelli during a ceremony at the college's alumni affairs luncheon on Saturday, June 11. "To receive an award in memory of a man who did so much for this college is truly an honor," Sartorelli said.
Sartorelli, who earned a bachelor's degree in business administration from Salem State College in 1983, is the chairperson of the college's board of trustees. She is past president of the Salem State College Alumni Association and sits on the Board of Trustees for the Salem State College Foundation, Inc., serving on the executive and fundraising committees.
Sartorelli earned a master's degree in business administration from Bentley College in 1985 and a doctorate in business administration from California Coast University in 1997. She is the managing director of strategic accounts at Verizon.
