Sannella receives award at Salem State

SALEM - Frederick A. Sannella of Revere is the recipient of the 2005 Elizabeth Williams Wade Award at Salem State College.
Sannella, a retired assistant principal at the Whelan School in Revere, accepted the honor during a ceremony at the college's alumni weekend luncheon on Saturday, June 11. Sannella received a bachelor's degree in education from Salem State in 1964 and has been an active member of the college's Alumni Association.
A former teacher at the Abraham Lincoln School in Revere, Sannella has served on the Revere School Committee since 2002, most recently as the vice chairman. In addition to serving as vice president of the Salem State College Alumni Association, Sannella also serves on the college's board of directors.
He is a former councilor-at-large in Revere, a former chairman of the Revere Historical and Cultural Commission and a former chairman of the Revere Bicentennial Commission. He has also served as the election commissioner in Revere and co-founded the Rumney Marsh Militia and the Revere Soccer League.
The Elizabeth Williams Wade award recognizes an individual who has made outstanding contributions to Salem State College through his or her activities within the Alumni Association.
