Teams Wanted For Basketball Fund-raiser

SALEM - Salem State College's School of Social Work will host a spring youth basketball tournament April 15-17 from 11 a.m.to 9 p.m. at the O'Keefe Center on Canal St. to raise money for the Pharnal Longus Community Service Scholarship Fund.
The tournament is for boys and girls and is split into three divisions: Division I includes grades 9-12, Division II is for grades 7-8, Division III consists of grades 4-6. Teams must have a coach and a minimum of eight players. There is a $200 entry fee for each team and a $50 non-refundable registration fee is due by March 23. The remaining $150 is to be paid by the start of the first game. Dr. Pharnal Longus is a professor emeritus of social work at Salem State College and has been teaching psychology and African-American history for over 32 years. He is a recipient of numerous community service awards. The Pharnal Longus Community Service Scholarship Fund was organized by the Salem State faculty in the School of Social Work to award students who have displayed excellence in community service.
