Salem State College to Host Genocide Conference

SALEM--- Salem State College will host "A Call To Action: Preventing Genocide In Our Time" on Friday, March 18 from 8 a.m. until 3:15 p.m. in Veteran's Hall, located on the second floor of the Ellison Campus Center on the college's North Campus.
The conference is open to the public and will begin with coffee and registration, followed by greetings from Dr. Robert McAndrews, president of the Holocaust Center; Dr. Marc Glasser from Salem State College; Dr. Wayne Burton, president of North Shore Community College; and Paul Frydrych from the Forum on Tolerance. Genocide survivors from Rwanda, Bosnia and the Holocaust will then address the audience. Professor Martha Minow from Harvard Law School will give a keynote presentation following lunch. Attendees will also have an opportunity to discuss what can be done on a local level to prevent future genocides and how schools and associations can get involved.
This event is sponsored by Salem State College Graduate School, North Shore Community College's Forum on Tolerance, the Anti-Defamation League, the Essex County District Attorney's Office, Facing History and Ourselves, the Peabody Institute Library and the Center for the Study of Jewish/Christian Relations at Merrimack College.
Admission is $35; groups of five or more are $25 per person. Admission includes a light breakfast and lunch.
