Award-winning author kicks off Women's History Month at Salem State College

SALEM- Salem State College will launch its celebration of Women's History Month with a keynote address by activist Dr. Jean Kilbourne. Kilbourne will speak about the image of women in advertising on Monday, March 7 at 11 a.m. in Veteran's Hall, located on the second floor of the Ellison Campus Center on the college's North Campus.
Kilbourne is internationally recognized and her films, slide lectures and television appearances have been seen by millions of people throughout the world. She was named by "The New York Times Magazine" as one of the three most popular speakers on college campuses. Her recent book, "Can't Buy My Love: How Advertising Changes the Way We Think and Feel," won the distinguished Publication Award from the Association for Women in Psychology and was described by Publisher's Weekly as a "profound work that is required reading for informed consumers."
Kilbourne's appearance on campus is sponsored by the Florence Luscomb Women's Center, the Student Government Association, the Campus Educators on Sexual Assault, the Program Council and Campus Center Programs.
Other events planned in celebration of Women's History Month are the Multicultural Student Association's Annual Sojourner Truth Women's Dinner and sex educators Marshall Miller and Dorion Solot's presentation of "The Female Orgasm."
