Salem State College hosts Asian Studies Lecture Series

SALEM--- Salem State will host the Asian Studies Lecture Series beginning Feb. 14 and ending April 7. The series will be held on the college's North Campus and will be open to the public.
Dr. Mary-Lou Breitborde from the college's School of Education will kick off the series with "Road to Graduate School- Motives, Methods and Meanderings" on Monday, Feb. 14 at 11 a.m. in Veteran's Hall located in the Ellison Campus Center. Dr. Xiang Zhou from Harvard University will present "Sea Otter Skins, 'Sea Dragon' Skins and 'Sea Tiger' Skins - Maritime Fur Trade and the Ritual System of the Qing Dynasty in China" on Tuesday, March 1 at 3 p.m. in the Underground in the Ellison Campus Center.
This event is organized to "promote diversity and multiculturalism," according to Li Li, Asian Studies Coordinator and member of the History Department at Salem State. The series is sponsored by the Office of Academic Affairs, the Graduate School, the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Education, the Office of Student Teaching and Certification, the Language Intensive Interdisciplinary program, the Asian Studies Program and the Asian Student Association.
