SALEM - Salem State College dedicated an accounting laboratory at its new business school facility to Thomas M. Feeley, a 1968 graduate of the college, and his wife Joan, both of Andover, on Monday, Nov. 29.

Cynthia McGurren, vice president of institutional advancement at Salem State College presented opening remarks and introduced guest speaker Karl Wesolowski, professor emeritus of economics and a former professor of Thomas Feeley. Following Wesolowski's comments, Salem State College President Nancy Harrington expressed the college's gratitude and introduced Feeley. At the conclusion of Feeley's remarks, the new accounting laboratory was unveiled. This facility will be used to tutor freshmen and sophomore students.

"We honor not only a significant gift to the college from Tom and Joan Feeley, but their extraordinary generosity. It will benefit Salem State College students, faculty and staff for many years to come," said McGurren. "We are very proud of Tom, proud that he is a graduate of Salem State, proud of his accomplishments in the business world and proud that he cares to such a great extent for his alma mater."

Managing partner of the Boston-based Feeley and Driscoll, P.C., Thomas Feeley has demonstrated generosity and commitment to his alma mater by creating a new level of giving, encouraging private donations and serving in a variety of volunteer positions. He was previously honored by the college in 1979, when he received the Distinguished Alumnus Award, and this past spring, when he was named the 2004 Outstanding Graduate of the School of Business.

A graduate of Bay State Junior College, Joan Feeley has been involved in the Andover Hockey League as both the registrar and the assistant treasurer for 20 years. A supportive wife and mother, she has completely dedicated herself to raising their four children.

"We are thankful that Tom and Joan have chosen to share not only their time and treasure with Tom's alma mater, but also their experience and expertise in both friend raising and fund raising," said Dr. Harrington. "Whenever the college has called, the Feeleys have answered."
