Father of Daniel Pearl to Speak December 7
Salem, MA, November 29, 2004---Dr. Judea Pearl, father of the late Wall Street Journal reporter, Daniel Pearl, will speak at Temple Beth El in Swampscott on Tuesday evening, December 7, at 8 p.m. His presentation is co-sponsored by Salem State College and SSC students and employees will be admitted at no charge with proper college identification.
Professor Pearl, a specialist in artificial intelligence, lost his son to Pakistani terrorists in a brutal beheading that was televised around the world nearly three years ago.
Judea Pearl's subject is "My Son, Daniel Pearl: Personal Reflections." Following Dr. Pearl's presentation, autographed copies of his book, "I Am Jewish" (the final words spoken by Daniel Pearl), will be available for sale.
All lecture proceeds will benefit the Daniel Pearl Foundation, which promotes multicultural dialogue in an attempt to counter similar acts of brutality in areas of conflict.
For non-SSC affiliates, tickets are $12 in advance and $15 at the door. Guests may also attend a reception with the author at 7 p.m., prior to the main presentation, at an additional cost. Temple Beth El, a handicapped-accessible facility, is located at 55 Atlantic Avenue, Swampscott. For further information call 781-599-8005 or 781-631-8330, extension 114.
