Annual health fair at Salem State offers free screenings, information

SALEM - With nearly 100 health and fitness exhibitors, the Seventh Annual North Shore Wellness Fair will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, April 27, at Salem State College's O'Keefe Sports Complex.

Following a 5K road race/fun walk at 9, the event will offer free screenings, medical information and live entertainment.

Blood pressure testing, cholesterol screening and fitness evaluations from major health organizations will be ongoing. Also, student volunteers from the Sport, Fitness and Leisure Studies, Biology, Athletic Training and Nursing departments will be available.

Major sponsors for the event are the North Shore Medical Center, Salem State College and the boards of health in Marblehead/Swampscott.

While the Wellness Fair is free, there is a registration fee for the 5K race/walk of $12 before 6 p.m. Friday, April 18, and $15 thereafter. Checks, payable to Salem State College, can be mailed to the Salem State College Wellness Center, 352 Lafayette St., Salem, MA. 01970-5353.
