Donation made to help offset budget cutsSALEM, Mass. -- A special year-end fund-raising effort by the Salem State College Foundation to address the needs of the Salem State College library has been successful, resulting in a $50,000 donation for books and resources.

Jacob Segal, president of the Salem State College Foundation and a resident of Marblehead, presented a check for $50,111 to Salem State College President Nancy D. Harrington and Library Dean Marc Glasser on Tuesday, June 24.

Glasser said the donation will be used to support library book acquisitions in the wake of recent budget reductions which have seriously impacted the library's ability to purchase needed resources.

" With the support of college employees, alumni and friends, we exceeded our $50,000 goal," said Terry Conrad, the college's Vice President of Institutional Advancement.
