SALEM, Mass. - Professor Vicky Gallagher of Lawrence has been appointed Chairperson of the Department of Education at Salem State College.

A professor in the college's education department for the past eight years, Gallagher will serve a three-year term beginning July 1 and ending June 30, 2006.

After arriving at Salem State College as an adjunct professor of education in 1995, she went to full-time in 1999. Previously she taught special education in North Andover for 10 years.

Gallagher has a doctorate degree from Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. She received a master's degree in education technology from Fitchburg State College in 1988 and an undergraduate degree from the University of Maryland.
