SALEM - "Superman" actor Christopher Reeve will join "Seizure" novelist Dr. Robin Cook onstage at the O'Keefe Sports Complex in May as part of the 22nd season of the Salem State College Series that will include appearances by Academy Award-winning actress Goldie Hawn in November and author Dominick Dunne in March.

Goldie HawnHawn will lead off the 2003-2004 Series with an appearance entitled "Beyond Laughter" on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Dunne will address the issues of "Power, Privilege and Justice" on Thursday, March 25, 2004. Reeve and Cook will conduct a dialogue on stem-cell research on Tuesday,
May 4.

Following a horse-riding accident that left him paralyzed, Reeve has turned his Christopher Reeveformidable talent and celebrity to a new cause, raising awareness of both stem cell research and spinal cord injuries through the Christopher Reeve Paralysis Foundation.

Cook is no stranger to biotechnology and medical research. With the publication of the Boston ophthalmologist's first book, the best seller "Coma" in 1977, he almost single-handedly created a new mystery genre: the medical thriller. Since then, Dr. Cook has sold over 100 million books world-wide, evidence that readers are intensely interested in issues at the forefront of current medical practice.

Goldie Hawn first gained celebrity as the giggly go-go dancer on the 1960s TV show "Rowan and Martin's Laugh-In." She won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in her first major movie, "Cactus Flower" in 1969.

Hawn's recent films include "Town and Country," with Warren Beatty, Andie MacDowell and Garry Shandling. In 1980, she produced and starred in one of her most successful films, "Private Benjamin," garnering an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress. Today, Hawn is a principal in the production company Cosmic Entertainment, which produces and develops projects for film and television.

Dominick DunneDunne is an accomplished journalist who covered the trials of O.J. Simpson, the Menendez brothers and William Kennedy Smith. Following the breakup of his marriage, a failed career as a producer, and drug and alcohol addiction, Dunne suffered the loss of his only daughter when she was murdered. He was outraged by the trial that followed and became a critic of the judicial system. Dunne emerged as a novelist whose best seller, "A Season in Purgatory," recounts a fictional murder that is considered a thinly veiled account of the highly publicized murder of Greenwich teen Martha Moxley.

Tickets will go on sale at 9 a.m. Monday, September 8. For ticket prices and further information, call the Series box office at (978) 542-7555 or visit www.salemstate.edu. For sponsorship opportunities, call Stephen Sorkin at (978) 542-7560.
