SALEM, Mass. - Author Frances Hill, of London, England, will deliver a lecture on the Salem witch trials of 1692 at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 30 at Salem State College's Ellison Campus Center.

Hill is in Salem this month researching material for a new anthology being edited by Salem State College professors Dane Morrison of the History Department and Nancy Schultz of the English Department.

Her talk, sponsored by Salem State College's new American Studies Certificate Program, is free and open to the public. Light refreshments are included.

Born and educated in London, Hill worked in New York as a correspondent. She wrote two novels, "Out of Bounds" and "A Fatal Delusion" before beginning work on the witch trials. She wrote "A Delusion of Satan" in 1995 and "The Salem Witch Trials Reader" in 2000. Her most recent publication is, "Hunting For Witches: A Visitor's Guide to the Salem Witch Trials."

Hill will be available to sign copies of her books after the lecture.

Information on the Graduate School's new American Studies Certificate will also be available. The 18-credit certificate program is collaboration between Salem State's English and history departments.

To attend the lecture, call Ann Marie Nicholas at 978-542-6310. For more information of the certificate program, call Schultz at 978-542-6105.
