Salem State College hosts panel on "The Future of Life"

SALEM, Mass. - A multidisciplinary panel of speakers will address the environmental crisis facing our planet at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 20 at Salem State College. The event will be held in Veteran's Hall, Ellison Campus Center, on the college's North Campus.
The symposium will consider the complex political and economic issues surrounding environmental preservation. The panel will also explore how the mass media report these problems to the average citizen.
Mark Zaitchik, professor of communications at SSC, will moderate the event.
Panelists include:
- Diana Muir, environmentalist and winner of the Massachusetts Book award for her Reflections on Bulloughs Pond: Economy and Ecosystem in New England.
- Dudley Herschbach, Nobel-laureate, chemist, social activist. Harvard University.
- Dan Perlman, professor of biology and environmental studies at Brandeis University. He recently co-authored an interactive CD-ROM, Conserving Earth's Biodiversity, with Dr. E.O. Wilson of Harvard University.
- Tom Patterson, Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University, and author of Out of Order.
