Salem State students remember Sept. 11

SALEM, Mass. - The Student Government Association at Salem State College will hold a candlelight vigil at 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 11 in memory of the victims of last year's attack on the World Trade Center.
The vigil, to be held in the courtyard between the library and Meier Hall, will cap a series of events marking the first anniversary of Sept. 11.
At 8 a.m., nationwide and local ceremonies will be broadcast on large screen televisions in Veterans Hall and televisions in Meier Hall, the library and in the Harrington Building.
Following a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m., the Interfaith Center will conduct a time for prayer and reflection from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Ellison Campus Center on the Main Campus and in the Bates Commons Room on South Campus.
The college's Residence Hall Association will lead a community clean-up effort from 4 to 7 p.m.
At 6:30 p.m., Sarah Newcomb, a student at the college, will sing the national anthem during a brief pre-game ceremony at Alumni Field where the women's soccer team will host Johnson & Wales University of Providence, R.I.
At 7 p.m., the Peace Institute will sponsor activist Cynthia Peters' talk entitled "Another World is Possible" in Forten Hall of the library.
