Salem Wal-Mart awards
two grants to Salem State College

SALEM - The Wal-Mart store on Highland Avenue recently presented two checks to Salem State College officials - one (for $500) to Terry Conrad from the Office for Institutional Advancement and one (for $1,500) to Pharnal Longus from the School of Social Work.

Wal-Mart representative Greg Gaston presented the checks on May 16 as part of the company's Community Matching Grant program.

Conrad said, "The Wal-Mart grants are very much appreciated and show their continued commitment to higher education.

" Longus said he would apply the Wal-Mart donation to the High School Workshops for Race, Culture and Ethnicity at the college. "The workshops, now in their 10th year, will run from Nov. 17, 2001 to Feb. 9, 2002,"
