LIBRARY COLLECTIONS IS FOCUS OF WORKSHOP

The Salem State College Library recently hosted a workshop entitled "Building Better Library Collections", that focused on the importance of faculty input in expanding library resources. Dr. Sheila Intner, a professor in the Graduate School of Library and Information Science at Simmons College, was the featured speaker.

Dr. Intner, who teaches collection development and library instruction at Simmons, emphasized the importance of faculty-librarian collaboration in obtaining great resources for the library. Intner, author or principal editor of 15 books and numerous articles, was elected president of the 6000-member Association for Library Collections and Technical Services. She has served as an American Library Association Councilor and editor of one of its scholarly journals as well as editor of TECHNICALITIES, a newsletter for librarians working with technical systems.
