Playing for Time Poster

The Salem State College production of Arthur Miller's, Playing for Time, produced last November, has won the New England Theatre Conference's Annual Moss Hart Memorial Award in the college/university category.

The annual Moss Hart Memorial Award has a two-fold purpose: to honor the memory of Moss Hart, dramatist and director, for his wit and sensitivity, and for his unconquerable enthusiasm for life and for his work in the theatre; and to recognize and encourage outstanding theatrical productions throughout New England of playscripts which present affirmative views of human courage and dignity, which have strong literary and artistic merit, and which in their productions, exemplify fresh imaginative, creative treatment within the intent of the playwright.

The Award will be presented to the director, Professor Edward Sharon, Assistant Professor in the Theatre Department, at the 50th New England Theatre Conference Annual Convention at the Swissotel, Boston, Saturday, November 3, 2001.

This is the second time that a Salem State College Theatre Department production won this prestigious award. The production of Sam Shepard's. True West, directed by Professor Celena Sky April won the Moss Hart Memorial Award in 1988.
