Everett Resident Awarded Salem State College Scholarship

Lee Spatafore, a Salem State College student and resident of Everett, is the recipient of the Richard Webbe/Alumni Plaza Scholarship of Academic Excellence. The award, a $1,500 gift for Spatafore's education, will be expended over the 2001-2002 academic year.

Spatafore, a member of the Salem State College honor's program since 1998, is affiliated with several other campus groups, including the Public Relations Student Society of America and the Leadership Institute. She also worked as both copy editor and editor-in-chief of the campus newspaper, "The Log."

Spatafore is a member of Alpha Lambda Delta, a national honor society. She has also been a Presidential Honors Scholar at Salem State, appointed to the National Dean's List, and is listed in the 6th annual addition of "Who's Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges."

Outside of her extracurricular activities and school-based honors, Spatafore has spent over 20 years as a member of the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and worked as president and treasurer of the Lt. Joseph F. Wehner Auxiliary 834 over those years. She is a member of the Department of Massachusetts Guard, the William Hurley Chapter 113 of the Disabled Americans Veterans Auxiliary and is the Parish Council Treasurer and editor of a newsletter for the Mission Parish of St. Nicholas of Myra.
