Study Abroad
Study abroad is an opportunity for any SSC student to experience another culture by studying at a foreign institution for a semester, year, or summer. Experiencing life in another country and culture will broaden your understanding of the language and people of a different world region. The College is committed to making programs available and encouraging any interested student to study abroad in order to discover the world and bring it home.
Mission
The mission of the program is to provide information and guidance to help students pursue studies in a foreign country, expand their knowledge of other countries and cultures, broaden their view of the world, and to enable other SSC Students to learn from those who have studied abroad.

Costs
Most Study Abroad programs are comparable in cost to a semester at Salem State. Others can be more expensive, depending on the program and the cost of living in a particular country. Financial Aid can be applied toward study abroad. Also, extra expenses including airfare and personal expenses can be included in your financial aid application. So, in short, Study Abroad is an affordable, once-in-a-lifetime experience!
Credits
Study Abroad students typically earn 12-15 credits per semester and the grades appear on the transcript as credit from a foreign school or contact university. Grades are not averaged into your cumulative grade point average, but do move you toward graduation.
