About Salem State College

Founded in 1854, Salem State College (SSC) is rich in tradition and history and is an institution of high academic quality with a diverse student body. The College community is committed to international students and 35 countries are represented in its student body. The campus provides access to medical and counseling services, an athletic center with a swimming pool and tennis courts, a campus center for meetings and social events, the Center for International Education, a library, residence halls, cafeterias and nearby banking and shopping facilities. The College's Schools of Arts and Sciences, Business, and Human Services offer courses of study in 37 different majors. 

Salem State College's seaside location in the historic city of Salem offers a unique geographic and cultural setting. Just 20 kilometers north of Boston and surrounded by a beautiful coastline and beaches, Salem State is part of a beautiful "small town with a big history" that boasts many famous cultural and historic sites. Salem State College is easily accessible by public transportation from Boston and the surrounding communities.
