¨      Dr. Massoud Farahbakhsh arranged for several guest speakers to address his BUS 473-Export/Import Management class & the School of Business faculty.  The speakers represented federal, state, and private services:

¨      On 28 April 2005, CIBES sponsored (along with SBDC) the combined 11th Annual Training Opportunities Program (TOP) & Export/Import Symposium  Luncheon featuring presentations by TOP interns and their supervisors. The event also featured three students enrolled in BUS 473-Export/Import Management, who presented their own feasibility projects on exporting/importing a product of their choice from and to a country of their choice.  The program, made possible by the generous support of the Michael Agganis Entrepreneurship Fund, places students from the School of Business into internship positions that will enable them to gain practical business experience.  The luncheon provided an opportunity for students, faculty and members of the business community to come together to learn about the Training Opportunities Program (TOP) Internships.

¨      Two additional Double Diploma French students from Sup de Co Montpellier, were selected to attend the MBA program during 2004-2005 academic year & received their diplomas in May 2005.

 

¨      Revised International Business concentration at the undergraduate level.

 

¨      Is working with the History Dept. faculty to propose a graduate business degree with a concentration on  East Asian Studies.

 

¨      In collaboration with other faculty members, Dr. Farahbakhsh worked to design a proposal for submission to the Freeman Foundation, which would support an MA degree in Asian Studies and/or an Asian Studies Minor at the undergraduate level.

 

¨      Dr. Farahbakhsh assisted adjunct Prof. Harvey Glass to propose a graduate level course in International Human Resource Management.  The course has been approved by the Management Dept. Curriculum Committee & has been forwarded to the Graduate Education Council for their review & approval. 

 

¨      Sponsored  India: A new Frontier”  2005 Summer Business Institute.

 

¨      Grant Applications:

 

“Joint MA/MBA Program (East Asian History & International Business Concentration)”, a five year proposal under development to be submitted to the Freeman Foundation & other organizations.  Total to be requested:  $1,290,000.

 

"TOP: Training Opportunities Program", a proposal  submitted to the Agganis Fund in March 2005.  Total Requested: $22,500.  Total Granted: $11,250.

 

"TOP: Training Opportunities Program", a proposal  submitted to the Agganis Fund in March 2004.  Total Requested: $22,500.  Total Granted: $20,000.
