¨    CIBES is the co-sponsor of the “Global Corporate Bankruptcy” 2003 Summer Business Institute at which Dr. Farahbakhsh will make a presentation to the participants. 

 

¨      Dr. Farahbakhsh received a grant from the Michael Agganis Entrepreneurship Fund entitled Training Opportunities Program (TOP) for the second consecutive year.  The program is sponsored jointly by the Center for International Business and Economic Studies, the Small Business Development Center and the Enterprise Center.  School of Business juniors and seniors are eligible for the grant, which will award approximately $20, 000 in fellowships and will match selected students with internship positions at the Enterprise Center and other small businesses in the area.

 

¨      The Salem State Log wrote an article on the TOP luncheon on 19 March 2003.

 

¨      CIBES was the co-sponsor of “A Celebration of the Training Opportunities Program”, a luncheon that was conducted for the participants of the TOP program and small to midsize businesses at Salem State College; Salem, Massachusetts; 3 March 2003.  Forty-six people attended the luncheon, of which 12 were students, 22 were representatives of local businesses, and 12 were members of the Salem State College community.  The luncheon featured four student interns and their supervisors, who spoke about their experience in the TOP program.  

 

¨      CIBES was the co-sponsor of the "Seventh Annual Export-Import Symposium” with the Small Business Development Center and the Enterprise Center, a workshop conducted for small to medium size businesses at Salem State College; Salem, Massachusetts; 5 December 2002.

 

¨      CIBES arranged for two guest speakers for the BUS 473-Export/Import Management class in Fall 2002.  James Cox, Deputy Director of US Department of Commerce Export Assistance Center, and Kathleen Newell, Trade Services Coordinator of the Mass Export Center, both spoke with the students about the different services and programs that are available through the various State and Federal agencies.

 

¨      CIBES became a new home for the International Academy of African Business & Development (IAABD), an academic organization with global membership and outreach. 

 

¨      Two additional Double Diploma French students, Anne Constantin and Cecile Touffait, from Sup de Co Montpellier, were selected to attend the MBA program from a pool of approximately thirty candidates and are taking classes during 2002-2003 academic year.

 

¨      Eric Villedieu de Torcy and Jerome Cassannatta, the first two Double Diploma students from Sup de Co Montpellier, successfully completed their MBA requirements in May 2002 and started a one year training program.
