¨ As Executive Director of CIBES, Dr. Massoud Farahbakhsh, organized and presented two workshops:

How to
do Business with South Korea, held on 1 April 1998. Co-sponsored by Korea Trade-Investment
Promotion Agency (KOTRA), North Shore Chamber of Commerce, Massachusetts Export
Center, North Shore Community College, and Massachusetts Small Business
Development Center Network-Northeast Region.
o
How to do Business
with Japan, held on 29 April 1998.
Co-sponsored by Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), North Shore
Chamber of Commerce, Massachusetts Export Center, North Shore Community
College, and Massachusetts Small Business Development Center Network-Northeast
Region.

As a result of the exchange agreement with the
Montpellier Graduate School of Commerce in France (Sup de Co-Montpellier), Dr.
Jeffrey Berman was invited to present a paper entitled “Competency as a
Management Practice in Europe and North America” at an International Colloquium
celebrating Sup de Co’s centenary.
¨
CIBES is in the process of expanding the existing
exchange agreement with the Montpellier Graduate School of Commerce to a double
diploma agreement.
¨
Dr. Massoud Farahbakhsh also oversaw the
development of a feasibility study of operating a Foreign Trade Zone by three
MBA students at the Enterprise Center, Central Campus.
¨
CIBES co-sponsored Business Institute in Summer
of 1998 which was entitled “Latin
Trade: An Emerging Global Market”. Dr.
Farahbakhsh acted as the opening speaker on 29 June 98. His presentation
was entitled “Globalization in Latin America: A New Approach to Economic
Development”.

CIBES co-sponsored the following faculty

CIBES sponsored a research project entitled
"Studying Abroad: Who's Interested?" by Patricia Uzzell and Jason
Hoyt, senior students in Dr. Ed Desmarais' BUS 563, Principles & Methods of
Business Research class.
