Staffed by nurse practitioners and a part-time doctor, health services is your on-campus doctor’s office. We offer medical care, consultation on health-related issues, health promotion programs, and referrals and collaborations with area providers and primary care physicians.
Our services include, but are not limited to:
- Routine physicals, including gynecological exams and work physicals
- Treatment of minor illness and injury
- Routine lab testing
- Sexual health, birth control and STD testing
- Immunizations and vaccinations.
Birth control and reproductive medications are available on site at reduced rates for students who choose not to use their insurance. We recommend visiting bedsider.org/methods to review current birth control options before your visit.
Appointments are required for health services. Same day appointments are available to students with an episodic illness or injury. Log in to your Navigator account to check out our new health services portal and to schedule an appointment with a Salem State healthcare provider. Please call our office at 978.542.6413 if you are experiencing an urgent situation.

For after-hours access to emergency contraception (EC), also known as Plan B.
A trained staff person will assess if EC is needed and if so, call a prescription into the chosen pharmacy. Please have pharmacy phone number when you call. With a prescription, most insurers will cover the cost of the medication without co-pay, but it is also available over the counter to anyone over the age of 15.
