Students: How To Be Involved In Child Studies

  • Take courses, such as Sociology of Children, Violence and Children, Sociology of the Family, or Seminar in Child Issues.
  • Major in Sociology with a cognate in Child Studies.
  • Minor in Sociology with a Child Studies focus.
  • Do Internships and Community Involvement in a variety of child-centered organizations in the Salem community.
  • Directed Studies can be created to allow students to explore particular child-focused issues.
  • Research in Child Studies - students can participate in ongoing research projects throughout SSC as well as regional and state projects.
  • Participation in the SSC Child Welfare Institute activities.
