MLK Vigil and Freedom March

The MLK Candlelight Vigil is held in partnership with the City of Salem’s No Place for Hate Committee. The vigil serves as an opportunity for the community to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s commitment to social activism and the legacy that has inspired us to continue his movement. The ceremony will consist of presentations by Salem community members, current students, songs, readings and more. The vigil will conclude with a Freedom March, and refreshments will be served at the end of the march.

In honor of Martin Luther King Day, Salem State University will be holding a food drive on campus to benefit the students of the Salem Public Schools. Let's work together to make sure no family is struggling with food insecurity this winter. Please bring nonperishable foods to the MLK Day Vigil on Monday, January 16.
